SOL SOLUS NON SOLI

Solar Decathlon Europe 2010 Madrid is a competition among universities around the world to build a prototype house with solar energy self-sufficiency. The equipment is subjected to ten subjective and objective tests to assess proposals from different teams.

The competition is organized by the Ministry of Housing with the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. It is an excellent opportunity to disseminate knowledge about the conditions of sustainability in our beloved planet enhancing awareness of the whole society on fundamental aspects for the environment and responsible use of resources. The SolarteamUPV of the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia participates in this edition with the On & On project.

MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE TEAM

Enhance student awareness towards renewable energy and energy efficiency through a new training tool integrated into the curriculum. It also intends to promote the specialization of those involved in these fields as well as promote awareness in society as a whole to these issues, through the popularization of science as part of the project.

Multidisciplinary knowledge and encourage cross between areas of knowledge, based on a dynamic team that will encourage the integration of knowledge and participation and development of future research projects. Promoting scientific and technological development of socio-economic background of the University through agreements to promote technology transfer between the UPV and the industrial fabric.
